In September of 2018 the next incarnation of the NOUSproject took shape in a special collaboration between composer (and Nous founder) Christopher Bono and jazz legend Karl Berger. Karl is the founder of the important and historic Creative Music Studio and winner of six Down Beat Critics Poll awards as a Vibraphonist, he is known for his associations with several other legendary jazz icons including Ornette Coleman, Don Cherry, Dave Holland, Ed Blackwell, Pharoah Sanders, and many others. During the course of a month the two conducted several improvisational recording sessions with an extraordinary set of 16 musicians including Billy Martin (Medeski Martin and Wood), Christopher Pravdica, (Swans), Ira Coleman (Tony Williams, Herbie Hancock), flutist Steve Gorn and many others. The project culminated in a headlining performance at the O+ Festival played to an enthusiastic crowd. With the deep musical background of all those involved this will be a very special release, and the ensemble brought together for future touring should be very special as well. The album is slated to be released Spring 2019.
